Environment Pollution
Environment Pollution
Nature, land, air,
water, plants and all other things around us in which we live are called
environment. The word ‘pollution’ means to make dirty or impure which is
harmful. Thus, environmental pollution means the pollution of our environment
that happens every day. It happens mostly in cities and industrial towns. It is
harmful to our health and livelihood. Any abnormal change in chemical,
physical and biological characteristics in environment is called the
environment pollution. At present, our environment is getting polluted
every moment. In our cities, the air is constantly being polluted by smoke from
factories and from carbon monoxide gases emitted by motor vehicles. Even the
ground, we walk on in both urban and rural areas, is polluted by garbage. Water
is also polluted. The seas are polluted by industrial waste, chemicals and
other poisons. Oil tankers often clean out their tanks at sea and power
stations release hot water into rivers which kill fish and plants Forest and
tree are cut down on a large scale. We have noise from motor vehicles, mills
and factories, domestic appliance, radio cassettes and CD player,
television and so on. It is another form of pollution. The air we breathe, the
water we drink, the food we take are not always absolutely pure for health. It
causes premature death to millions of people. However, we should take measures
to prevent environmental pollution. We should plant more trees and work for
forestation. Government should take initiatives to save our environment. To
prevent pollution, government as well as all the conscious people should come
forward to develop civic sense to reduce all kinds of pollution.
